Full Description:
Summary
An Option Agreement or conditional contract is sought to take this site through planning, through to purchase. The plot is within the development boundary and the planning officer, in previous correspondence, has indicated that there would not be any objection in principle to there being a dwelling on this site.
The site may suit a single detached 4/5 bed house or a pair of semi-detached houses (subject to planning). The plot is in a village location on the western edge of Westbury.
The Site
This is a clear and sloping site. The site has an approximate frontage of 16.15m and a depth of some 27.47m.
The Area
Westbury nestles under the north-western bluffs of Salisbury Plain. Renowned for the hillside ‘White Horse’, thought by some to date back to 878 A.D. to commemorate King Alfred the Great’s victory over the Danes, it is more likely to date from 1720, given the lack of evidence prior to this date. The 14th century All Saints Church houses the 3rd heaviest ring of bells in the world.
Modern-day Westbury has two supermarkets, many independent local shops and a railway station as well as local junior and secondary schools. Warminster is just 4 miles from the plot, with a population of 20,000 people, a modern town centre and independent education at Warminster School and Bishopstrow College.
Frome is also just 4 miles from the plot, an historic market-town in north-east Somerset at the eastern end of the Mendip Hills and 13 miles south of Bath.
The town has a population of around 25,000 people with a large number of listed buildings in the centre which is mainly a conservation area. The town has cobbled streets leading into the centre and many 16th and 17th century small houses. The town is also modern with a thriving retail area, Sainsburys, banks and building societies, markets every Wednesday and Saturday, two theatres, a cinema and Arts Centre, two local newspapers and a museum.
Frome also has a Leisure Centre with swimming pool and Gym. The town is most noted today for its thriving Arts scene. Frome is 13 miles south of Bath with its leading Universities, rich cultural history, stunning architecture and an excellent shopping centre with many varied and independent shops.
