Full Description: The freehold fishing rights of four days of single bank salmon and sea trout fishing on the Lower River Tweed, one of the most highly regarded salmon rivers in the world with six named pools and a five year average of 105 salmon.
The fishing for sale provides approximately 1.5 miles of productive fishing on the English side of the river and stretches from the top of Canny Island, upstream from Norham Bridge to below Norham Castle, famous in Border warfare history, providing a dramatic backdrop to the lower pools. There are six named pools, the best of which are Bridge Pool and Colonel's Pool.
Whilst the fishing is owned by the vendor, two days are reserved to a third party in perpetuity, these having been exercised on a Wednesday and Thursday for a number of years, although could be exercised on a rotational basis in accordance with the original agreement.
The Lower Tweed fishing is most productive in low water conditions and Pedwell is no exception, producing a record 524 salmon caught during the dry summer and autumn of 2003. A self employed ghillie/boatman is retained during the season, which runs from 1st February to 30th November.
