Full Description: Located near the village of Kilkhampton and within easy reach of the North Cornwall coast, Forda Wood is made up of two distinct parts. The top half of the woodland which slopes gently down from its southern boundary comprises mixed broadleaves including oak, ash, rowan, poplar, alder and willow. A track runs through this section from near the SE corner towards the NW. A mature hedge-bank runs east to west across the wood, separating the top section from the lower. Take the steps over the hedge-bank and you find yourself in an area of meadow grasses and wildflowers with poplars and hazel. The very bottom part of this area, which has a small stream running along the northern boundary, has a wetland feel to it, with tussock grasses and willows. A track crosses this lower section, running from about half-way up the E boundary across to the SW corner.
The woodlands were established about 10 years ago and there is a modest income available under the woodland grant scheme for another 5 – 6 years.
The purchasers of the woodland will be asked to enter into a covenant to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of adjoining woodlands and meadows.
